Planning a magical Disney World vacation with your family? You're in for an incredible experience! But before you start packing those Mickey ears, let me help you make sure you have everything you need for a stress-free, comfortable trip.
As a family vacation specialist who's helped hundreds of families plan their Disney adventures, I've learned exactly what makes or breaks a Disney trip. Even after numerous trips to Walt Disney World, families still manage to forget something! Let me share my expert packing list so you don't make the same mistakes.
Here's your complete Disney World packing list, organized by category so you don't forget a thing.

Park Bag Essentials
What to bring in your park bag every single day:
The Perfect Park Bag: First things first - you need a good park bag! I recommend a water-resistant, comfortable backpack, fanny pack, or crossbody purse. This will be your lifeline in the parks, so choose wisely!
Must-Haves for Your Bag:
Reusable water bottle (one per person - stay hydrated!)
Portable phone charger (Anker is a great brand - your phone will be your lifeline!)
Sunscreen (reapply every 2 hours - Florida sun is intense!)
Small first aid kit (Band-Aids, blister remedies, tweezers)
Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes
Baby wipes (even adult hands get messy from tasty treats!)
Snacks (granola bars, crackers, fruit pouches - saves money and prevents meltdowns)
Disposable ponchos (afternoon storms are common in Florida)
Gallon Ziplock bags (protect phones from water rides, store wet ponchos, or messy clothes)
Body Glide (prevents chafing on those long park days!)
Gum (they do NOT sell gum anywhere on Disney property!)
Comfort Items:
Comfortable walking shoes (you'll walk 7-12 miles per day!)
Extra pair of socks (nothing worse than wet socks!)
Light jacket (restaurants and indoor attractions get COLD with AC)
Shout wipes or Tide pen (for those inevitable spills)
Battery-powered fan or stroller fan (lifesavers in summer!)
Pro Tip: Bring your own glow sticks or glow-in-the-dark items! At nighttime, Disney will roll out the carts of expensive light-up souvenirs. Come prepared with your own and save a bundle!
Tech & Charging Essentials
Keep your devices powered:
Portable cell phone charger (Anker brand is excellent)
USB wall charger
Extra charging cables
Download the My Disney Experience app BEFORE you arrive!
Toddler & Baby Essentials
If you're traveling with little ones:
Stroller (rentals available but bringing your own is often easier)
Ribbon or something to mark your stroller to make it easily findable
Stroller fan (clip-on fans are amazing in summer)
Baby carrier or wrap
Diapers and wipes (bring more than you think!)
Change of clothes in your park bag
Swim diapers for splash pads
Formula/baby food if needed
Favorite small toys or comfort items
Pacifiers (bring extras!)
Disney Tip: Baby Care Centers are located in every park with changing tables, nursing rooms, and even a kitchenette for preparing bottles. They're air-conditioned sanctuaries!
Kids (Ages 3-12) Must-Haves
Keep the magic alive and meltdowns minimal:
Autograph book and fat Sharpie marker (for character signatures - and the Sharpie is great for labeling water bottles too!)
Glow sticks or light-up toys (buy before you go - much cheaper!)
Small toys for waiting in lines
Favorite snacks from home
Comfortable shoes they've already broken in
Lightweight jacket
Bathing suits
Disney-themed outfits (let them dress up!)
Character Meet & Greets: Use the My Disney Experience app to find character locations and times. Hugging Mickey and meeting Disney Princesses creates unforgettable memories!
Teen Essentials
Don't forget your bigger kids:
Portable phone charger (they'll use it constantly)
Earbuds or headphones
Pre-loaded Disney Gift Cards (helps teach budgeting and works throughout the parks!)
Comfortable shoes (no, those new sneakers won't work)
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Refillable water bottle
Small backpack
Resort/Hotel Packing
For your Disney resort room:
Laundry detergent pods and dryer sheets (if staying more than 4 days - most resorts have laundry facilities)
Bathing suits for the pool
Flip-flops for the pool
Pajamas and comfortable clothes
Reusable shopping bags for laundry or wet clothes
Pro Tip: Need groceries during your stay? The resort bell desk can accept deliveries from Amazon Prime Now, Garden Grocer, and Instacart. Be sure to include the lead guest's name on the delivery label!
Clothing Guide
How much to pack:
For a 5-7 day trip, pack per person:
1 outfit per day (can re-wear shorts/pants)
2 extra shirts
1 pair of pajamas for every 2 nights
Undergarments for each day + 2 extra
Socks for each day + 2 extra pairs
1-2 bathing suits
Light jacket or hoodie
One "nicer" outfit for character dining (optional but fun!)
Shoe Rule: Everyone needs 2 pairs of comfortable, BROKEN-IN walking shoes. Alternate daily to prevent blisters!
Weather Considerations:
Summer (June-September): Light, breathable fabrics, moisture-wicking clothes
Fall/Spring: Layers! Mornings cool, afternoons hot
Winter (December-February): Jacket for mornings/evenings, but still shorts-weather by afternoon
Medicine & Health Essentials
Don't forget these:
Allergy medicine
Tylenol or Advil
Dramamine (for motion sickness on attractions)
Any prescription medications (in original containers)
First aid supplies
Blister remedies (your feet will thank you!)

✅ Don't leave home without: ✅
Driver's license or ID
Credit cards and pre-loaded Disney Gift Cards
Health insurance cards
Park tickets (digital or physical)
Hotel confirmation
Dining reservation confirmations
MagicBands (if you ordered them)
Pro Tip: Take photos of all important documents and email them to yourself as a backup!
